Sebastián Piñera (born December 1, 1949) was the 36th President of Chile from 2010-2014. He is the son of an ambassador and descendant of two 19th century Chilean presidents. Prior to his presidency, Piñera was a successful investor having important stakes in several companies including Chilevision (television), LAN Airlines, the football team Colo-Colo, and several other minority interests in Chilean and Latin American companies. His investing career began by introducing credit cards to Chile in the late 1970s. By 2011 before he took office he had built an estimated fortune of US $2.4 billion.
