Salinas is the Chairman of Grupo Salinas, a conglomerate with large interest in the telecommunications, media, financial services, and retail sectors. He initially succeeded his father at Grupo Elektra, a family owned manufacturing and telecommunications company owning TV Azteca.. In 2002, the company won its first banking license and began financial services companies in Mexico such as Banco Azteca, which has recently expanded across Latin America.
